From A Driver’s Heart

Much is said today about driver retention, coaching, and mentors. At Team Jim And Carolyn we live our love of drivers and driving by speaking to them through real life. Sometimes, just a kind word or a thoughtful gesture can make a huge difference in a driver’s day. It’s not difficult to coach a driver if you have the heart for it. Beyond that, just follow your heart.

For example, say you observe his or her daily vehicle data and the data indicates changing lanes too often. I use a GForce measurement from Geotab to obtain driving and crash prevention data. Maybe it’s a trend. Sometimes the unsafe act may be systemic of other issues. Observe the driver. How does he react to negative stimulus? Is he one who seeks constant stroking and approval? Chances are these internal issues may be the problem. He may have been changing lanes all of his life in reaction to negative stimulus. Now, he is in your reach and you could make a marked difference in his life.

When he is afraid he changes lanes seeking the lane of approval. When things don’t go fast enough for him he swiftly reacts and hits the lane of impatience and uncertainty. When things get really tough at home, family, or on the job, he darts over to the lane of irresponsibility, blames someone else, and hides in the traffic of childishness and life.

Address the inner man or woman. It’s time he quit running, changing lanes, and consider how his actions affect others, and take responsibility.

We’ve all had our hard knocks. Our key to recovery and success was we quit changing lanes. We fessed up, took action, and we are moving ahead now.

There is Most always a why as to what makes a man constantly change lanes and “run.”

At TJ&C Team Jim and Carolyn we want you to succeed. Call us if troubles have a strangle hold on you. Chances are we’ve been there. And we can probably help. One for all and all for one. Pray for our drivers. We keep America rolling.
